2015: in like a lion

00 2015

Hi, all! I'm just writing to inform that I'm taking a week off from this blog. The year came in like a lion, and already, I need to gather my thoughts and emotions and deal with it. I also goal to work on a new blog design, head back to the gym, meet my new neice (she's to be born any day now), and gear up for my work trip to Anaheim for CHA in a few short days.

I plan to return next week with a new design and approach to this blog, a post on my one little word for 2015, the last few pages of my December Daily, and an intro to my Project Life 2015.

Thanks for understanding. ♥ Download the above image for your New Years scrapbooking HERE.

What're you doing New Year's...New Year's Eve?

Happy NYE, loves! I thought I'd post this oldie but goodie as I love the two of them and their version of this song. This NYE my plans may or may not include all of the following: a hearty breakfast, blow drying my hair, The Walking Dead marathon, meeting my new neice (!!!), a nap of epic proportions, making chicken wings, wearing some ivory sequins, push-pop confetti, a large DD coffee with triple espresso shot, and a house party at my homegirl's crib. So what're you doing New Year's...New Year's Eve? Whatever it is you're doing, I wish you a happy & heartfelt evening. See ya next year (that never gets old).

New Years 2015 Free Printable (!!!) for PL

00 freebies

The final days of 2014 are upon us, friends, and to celebrate I designed these three New Years POCKET PAGES™ cards that are available for FREE DOWNLOAD on the me & my BIG ideas blog HERE.

Head over there, click the download link, print the page, and cut them out! It's that simple!

08 freebies

I printed mine out on regular 8.5 x 11" white cardstock, for the thicker consistency, but plain paper will do as well. Print it out on glossy photo paper to make the black really pop.

07 freebies

I cut mine out with a paper trimmer, and journalled and check-listed. I love the idea of adhering clear white mambiSTICKS stickers to the card, maybe in a cluster like I did with this project.

10 freebies

Enjoy! Head over to the me & my BIG ideas blog HERE to download and print for yourself.

photo-a-day January 2013 compilation party!

IMG_5860

January 2013 is OVER. Boom. Done. Good.

I can't believe I got through it with not one bubble bath.

01_January_Collage

It feels like ages ago that I ate those tiny Frozen Taro Yogurt cups the night before heading back to school after Christmas YAYcation. Tons and tons and tons of karaoke was sung, and saved my soul, actually.  Cats, ZUMBA on wii, ice cream cones, LOTS and LOTS of tea and coffee and tea was my January.

...and I fell in looove with the new Studio Calico Project Life kit!

02_January_Collage

I was dreaming of spring dresses and summer colors, survived a rough couple of weeks as a teacher, and am going to focus on these two things...

03_January_Collage

More coffee, junkfood, and karaoke. The usual teacher-craziness, and my classroom's cow portrait (that I'm going to save, frame, and decorate my home with). Sleeping; gorgeous morning colors, snow, Grandma's birthday weekend, and a morning-after mimosa.

The final four above are from this week so far.  Just quick snaps I try to fit into the prompt.

The 'look' of this month was made with the PFX 15 filter on the app Picfx, then the Bloom filter on the app Afterglow, and the words were put on top with the font app Over.  The font is Mensch.

I don't know yet if I'll continue with this look for February's list, or if I'll change it up.

You'll have to follow me on Instagram to find out.

Have a happy last day of JAN!

quick note: something noteable happened between falafel and laying in bed with The Lumineers, but I'm going to save it for another post.

That's all for this first edition of 13 on the 13th.

It's now 4am, and I have to figure out what I'm going to teach these kiddos in my class.

See you tomorrow!

first day o' twenty thirt.

FROZEN TARO YOGURT

...started at 6am with teacher work and ended with frozen taro yogurt.

In between, there was the sweetest sweetest conversation had with my good friend, Jamina. Reflecting on it a bit earlier in the evening, I texted her this:

"Just settled down for the night and I wanted to thank you again for today, especially our career-choice chat.  It's been so on my mind and I feel lucky to have a friend going into the new year that supports me and 'gets' it.  Love you!"

She texted back:

"Love u!! I'm glad that u could come today and I know it's been a rough few weeks but I'm sure that everything will work out how it needs to for u to be happy...and just so you know I'm always here for you!! <3 and I think making the first move is always the hardest. But once u get on your way you will be great!!"

Blessed start, methinks.

Hope yours was too.

{ movement } / reflections on my one little word for 2012

Movement word

This is a post reflecting on my first year doing Ali Edwards' one little word practice.
To learn more about it, read here.

In a few days, I will share with you all the one little word I've chosen for myself for the new year, but before I go into a post on that, here is my reflection on 2012, my year of { movement }.

The word awkwardly and profoundly chose me the last week of 2011 when I wrote my all-important post about 'the shift' that occurred, when I expressed starting 2012 feeling "stuck...and not knowing what to do about it."

{Movement} appeared in my New*Years*Eve post 2011 >> 2012 where I said I was "hoping with all my being at the stroke of 12 midnight that this is the year movement will be made," and then I added,"...please, in the right direction.

I had wrote in that hopeful post that physically I wanted to run more.  I wanted to bike as much as possible. I wanted to take up salsa again.  I wanted to roller-skate.  I wanted to swim. I wanted to play in the sand.

Emotionally: I wanted to examine where my relationship is, and where will it go.

Mentally: I wanted to move toward making firm, executive decisions to do things that will bring me long-term happiness.  Decisions about money, job, vacations, organization, hobbies...how I want to live; where I want to live; who I want to live with...

Even if in inches or millimeters, I wrote back in that first olw post, I wanted some kind of movement in the right direction taking place.

... AND BOY, DID IT EVER!

I moved the first day of the year by bike:

Movement03

There was a grandiose movement of my perspective of how I thought about my teaching job that I had grown to hate.

Movement02

Movement was made visual with a sweet little | Year 1 on Instagram | video I made back in February.

I got movin' to The Brooklyn Flea...

Movement05

...where my heart was left amongst the knick knacks and trinkets. See post here.

I got through the dreaded month of March by creating a doable Movement Challenge for myself:

Movement01

...and approximately 52 miles later, this movement challenge got me to April in one piece, where I kinda sorta did another movement challenge. Woot woot!

I moved a bit to the whole-page scrapbook layout side of paper crafting:

Movement06

It was a fun little visit, and I hope to do more when inspiration strikes.

I can't believe there was { movement } in the gardening department:

Movement07

...even if it was a measly classroom garden of marigolds and moonflowers.  Heck, I got twelve Special Ed 3rd graders to make their garden grow!  One day, I will have a grandiose tomato and fresh herb garden, but this here...this little window-sill plant party, this is where it started.
{ Movement } in the right direction, documented. :)

With my one little word of movement, I found myself taking relish of even natural movement: the movement of seasons. The movement closer and closer to Summer was like an internal mini firework party:

Movement08

Memorial Day weekend made me so happy. <-- (I'm obsessed with this post.)

Once Summer hit, there was time and peace for { movement } in the right direction to occur.

It came in the form of teaching myself Photoshop Elements 10:

Movement09

...and well, DUH! OPENING UP MY STAMP SHOP:

Movement10

This was a major form of { movement } for me. Hip hip hooray, say I, in the most joyfully quiet sentimental way possible.

From my creation of my stamps to the opening of my STAMP SHOP, to a movement down the east coast on a road trip I'll never forget:

  Movement12

So much movement!! From Savannah, Georgia, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Ocala, Florida, to Myrtle Beach, SC, to Washington D.C. ...this east coast road trip moved me all the way down and back up the east coast, and moved me as a human a little bit.  I did so much growing up and realizing on that trip.

Next greatest example of movement was the late-August Sweet 16 Photoshoot I conceptualized, created, and shot:

Movement13

I love working on my photography skills, my creative backdrop-making skills, and everything involved.  This was a lot of fun, and has been a long time coming.  Plus, when you have as much family fun as we did this day on this 'shoot'...come on!  Movement well made.

Then, there was movement to a new classroom, and school started up.

Muddy movement was a must:

Movement14

The rest of Fall's been a bit of a blur, but these past few months have address the hardest
{ movement } of all which might be movement apart from my guy.

Movement15

I'm left in a bit of confusion about that part of my life, but everything else, because of this year of {movement} has been made more clear.  I have moved in the right direction this year, even if ever so slightly, but it feels good to have had some positive change occur, or any change occur for that matter.  So much of 2011 was stagnant and still and stale, and declaring movement as my one little word a year ago got the engine running.

Even when I wasn't whole-heartedly declaring "MOVEMENT" as motivation for something with my fist in the air, it was really with me all year, in everything I did.  Sometimes it was a little spark in the corner of my eye, but sometimes it was pounding in my heart as hard and strong as a waterfall.

I am so grateful for this one little word practice.  I am thrilled movement's been my word.  I believe it will never leave me, just give birth to challenging and appropriate other words, acting like the grandmother to each new little word that my future brings.

Movement01

I am so excited to share with you all my word for 2013 in the next few days.

I hope to see you back here for that, and link up to any one little word related posts you may have written in the comments.  I'd love to read them.

Happy almost 2013!

UPDATE (again) on my New Year's Stamps

Only three to be sold

Yes, I originally started with eight designs for the New Year's edition of my stamp-a-roonies, then shrunk the number down to seven designs after believing a week ago that I had finally figured out how to get them from my head, to the correct PSE format and dpi, to the website for a clear and successful upload, to a pretty sweet wood-mounted rubber stamp. Uhhh...I've done all that before.

However, it did not work.  Whatevs.

Not wanting to give up, as it is #1 on my December Manifesto list, I worked on the designs more this morning. The only three I'm comfortable listing are the three you see above.  So sorry, for those of you interested in any of the others.  I'll have a whole year to refine and perfect them for next New Year's. ;)

Anyway, the very limited quantity of these New Year's Stamp of mine will be available in the next couple of weeks.  When I get them in, they'll be in my STAMP SHOP the very next day...I'll let you know.

In other not-completely-unrelated-news...TOMORROW at noon Paper Issues is conducting a BLOG HOP where scrappy ladies will display work they've created using my stamps, and a giveaway of some of my stamps will be taking place.

Come back tomorrow for more details!

See ya then.

**Must also note: what happened yesterday morning in Connecticut is just sad, sad, sad.
Thinking of the victims this morning and the rest of this year.
There are no words, just tears.

UPDATE on my New Year's Stamps

NewYears2013STAMPS

Howdy, and hello, readers and peepers!

I know it's been over a month since I first posted about these stamps coming to my STAMP SHOP, but literally -- that's how long the process has been taking. I got a batch that were imperfect, had to figure out why, made several other copies of my designs, sent them to the company, waited for a response, was told what to do, did it, still didn't work, tried this, did that...haa haa!

Bottom line: I think I got it right just yesterday (crossing my fingers)...and hopefully, I'll be placing the order for the bunch by tonight, and by this time next week or so, they'll be in my shop...just in time for a December 16th Blog Hop with Paper Issues.

Yes!  You read that right!  A Blog Hop -- featuring my stamp-a-roos -- starting on December 16th, and going for two sweet weeks.  There's a chance to win some stamps from my shop, and it should be an awesome time!

If you have a particular liking to any of the stamps above, TAKE THE POLL in the middle >> column and let me know which is your favorite!

You can also let me know in the comments or in an e-mail to amandaroseblog@yahoo.com as I am going to be ordering a very limited quantity to list in my shop.

That's all I have to tell you for now. :)

I hope everyone who's December Daily-ing is having as much fun with it as me.

Happy almost-Friday!
