Sometimes the one you fall for
Doesn't know you've fallen
You fall harder every time you
See them next
And then the school year ends
And they move to Florida.
You think about them ocassionally, and
They never find out you fell,
And you slowly crawl yourself out of that hole.
Sometimes the one you would never fall for
Falls for you.
You be kind, oh so kind, because
You know how much that means, and
You slowly, very very slowly
Help them back up,
But not into your arms.
Sometimes the one you fall for
Falls for you too,
But not as hard or as deep.
In fact, theirs in only a trip
A scuffle in their step,
And you pray for an earthquake
To make them bash to the ground.
But, nope, you've fallen an almost deadly fall,
And they keep on walking past you, skipping even.
Sometimes the one you fall for
Falls for you too, and you have a bit of a life together.
However, then you realize you
Never fell. In fact
He never fell either.
You just both came across each other and
Embraced.
Embraced and gripped tight, not
Wanting the other to move.
Just come along, come along now,
But you both aren't moving.
Just still. Holding on, way too tightly.

imagine...
imagine waking up with no rushed responsibility
with the ability to make coffee and kiss the cats and appreciate the morning's silence...with coffee sips and thoughts of the creativity that potentially might muster in your mind throughout the day
imagine getting to work, slowly easing yourself on your computer's creative design space and starting...being paid for play...all morning, paid for play
then maybe pause for a meeting or a walk outside for lunch
gather air and inspiration and sweet time for yourself...nourishment...this is your day, but
you're working
and imagine this still feels like your day even though its your working day
'cause it's not work you're afraid of, no no ...it's loss of yourself in work, like now
where are you?
then imagine you return to work and continue to play...MORE PLAY, they say
shapes, font, type, color, pattern, mixing, ideas to convey, more play
no more grinding teeth
no more scrounging for calm
no more hectic chaos, shitty system
just getting paid for play, nestled in a job I fit right into, that allows room for happy
like a big open warehouse for happy
that I fill to the brim each day,
and when I look in the mirror, I see me
imagine. make happen.
because I feel like this year it
is more clear than ever before

Yesterday was my place of work's holiday party, where my fellow teachers and myself would be exchanging secret santa pal gifts.
I had picked my new buddy from work, Michele, who -- besides me -- has the only other self-contained testing-grade class. {{deep sigh}}
I'm so glad I picked someone I talk to regularly and here's what I sneakily left in her mailbox yesterday morning:
I tricked her by spelling her name wrong on PURPOSE! Haa haa!
Here's what Michele (with one 'L') posted to facebook a few minutes after finding out I was her Secret Santa!
It was a fun time.
Thank God for holiday distractions!
...because Lord knows...in those quiet moments...
I thought about him yesterday while eating my
baked clams, and when I ordered my steak
medium-well instead of well.
I miss him so much.

i went for a run
to clear my head some
it didn't help a ton
I wish Summer had already begun
my days are no fun
my nights are spent spun
in a mess of uncertainty
where is it I should be?
I try to give my body movement
to help me sort through the bullshit
when i'm pounding the pavement
my body's making a statement
to my mind
it's saying bide your time,
breathe deep,
get sleep,
stay alive,
keep your eye on the prize
don't take shit from your guy
or let others plot your life
from point A to point Z
you know where you should be
Let your friends talk their fluff
it's only 'cause they have it rough
and they want you to too
get through
these last few weeks of teachin' school
you know it's not meant for you
so find what is and fight the 'scared'
be prepared,
get up off your chair,
tie back your hair,
go out and get it done
wield your gun
i went for a run

I read in a recent mag I had
to try this trend on top my head.
It works with hair chin length or long
pulled tight or loose, no right or wrong.
Hi, ballerina bun, quirky and cool
I'll wear you to work and I'll wear you to school.
Maybe stick a flower in you?
Who knew?
No need for hours of hot-ironed hair stew!
Right out the shower, you'll do.
