Deeeeeeeeecember 1st! ...and December Daily 2013 begins!
Up until yesterday evening I wasn't sure how I was going to present this year's DD. Nothing was constructed for me to contribute to Ali's "Share Your Foundation Pages" post a from a few days ago. I all of a sudden - out of nowhere yesterday - put together scrap strips of "Christmas" paper I was using for the inside of this DIY mini book, and wah lah! my cover was born.
I adhered the strips by running them through my Xyron Sticker Maker machine. I stamped 2013 with Kelly Purkey's Stepping Stone stamp set, and then "This is December" from the December Daily 2012 stamp set by Ali Edwards. I traced "This is December" with the silver one of my so beloved Martha Stweart Glitter Glue sticks (they are December art journalling to me). Then, with one of those fancy edged scissors, I cut it out, stuck it to my cover with pop dots, and finished it off by hot gluing a silver bow from Michaels.
I layer paper on top of paper, and made an intro page and a dedication page 'cause I'm all sappy like that at the start of December.
My December Daily will be made up of everyday happeneings, dreams for future holidays, and wishes.
I wanted the inside pages to not be so traditional red and green. I like Christmas to be ecclectic and modern. The paper I chose reflects that.
I really don't have a set plan for filling it. I know I need to keep it simple. I think Instax and Polaroids might come in handy for their 'snap and stick' in less than five minutes M.O. I imagine some days might not come with a picture, but a poem or song lyric or journal entry or wish or watercolor paint splotch instead. Who knows? I don't! We shall see, and Happy December!
