This week is the big reveal, readers! Yesterday kicked off We R Memory Keeper's big Summer product launch, and amongst the products in the launch are my two collections I created during the short four months I was a designer for them. Both collections will hit stores later this year.
The first collection I deisgned is called IT FACTOR, and you could look at it in more detail here.
I participated in a question-and-answer on the two paper lines a while back, and it explains a lot of the back story and where I was going with the lines --
1. Where did you get your inspiration to create this collection?
The inspiration for It Factor came from current trends and products I often use in my own pocket scrapbooking. When creating the moodboard for the collection, I infused a night life ‘party’ vibe with the painty, brush script look that’s trending right now.
2. Why did you decide to use the colors that you did?
The colors for ‘It Factor’ were decided based on what I like use in my scrapbooking: black and white paired with bold color, always. Pink is a color that has a special place in my heart, so for my first line with We R, it was given. Yellow and teal are trending colors, as well, and helped give the collection the bold feel I was going for.
3. How would you describe these colors?
The colors used for It Factor are bold, fun, and trendy.
4. How is this line different or an addition to other collections We R has done in the past?
It Factor - though obviously very loud, random, and edgy in it’s design - can be used in a very general way to create projects with all year long, for every occasion. The feeling it conveys is an abstract and quirky notion of fun, which will automatically draw attention and interest in projects made with it.
5. Give me some words or phrases that describe this collection.
The name for the line pretty much sums it up. Saying someone or something has the ‘It Factor’ is, by definition, saying there is an indefinable quality about that person or thing that makes it alluring or attractive. I feel that about this collection. It’s abstract, but (hopefully) there’s a ‘cool vibe’ to it that makes you want to use it in your projects. :)
Also, after each paper line was complete, the 'look' branched out into Albums Made Easy Project Life-type cards and smaller 4x4 Instagram album kits. For this seasons product launch of the Instgram kits, you'll get an album, coordinating insert cards, and three stamps with ink. See IT FACTOR's below:
The second line I created with We R Memory Keeper's is called LOVE NOTES. See it in detail here.
Below is the same five-question interview I gave for Love Notes:
1. Where did you get your inspiration to create this collection?
The inspiration for love Notes took some time coming to me, but ended up being a product of a mix of inspirations ranging from abstract watercolored paintings, thinking of a weekend getaway, and romance.
2. Why did you decide to use the colors that you did?
The colors for ‘love Notes’ went through a lot of revisions, but ended up being decided based on pairing coordinating and unique colors with black and white. The line is set to be released in February, so rather than making it a red and pink ‘Valentine’s’ collection, we decided the colors should read soft and romantic, but in a modern way.
3. How would you describe these colors?
The colors used for love Notes are a mix of soft, complimentary, and romantic colors with bold and exciting black and white…kind of how love should be — a mix of soft and bold, romantic and exciting, yet always complimentary. :)
4. How is this line different or an addition to other collections We R has done in the past?
Love Notes has an overwhelmingly hand-touched feel to it. Every paper has an element of something I drew or painted or sketched or made art before it was made design. I think this reads as a collection I poured a lot of love into, and will therefore (hopefully) read as line to be used for projects documenting all things you love! <3 <3 <3
5. Give me some words or phrases that describe this collection.
Love Notes conveys modern romance. It’s edgy, dreamy, and quirky.
...and the mini Instagram kit of LOVE NOTES:
I feel blessed to have gotten this opportunity to work with We R Memory Keepers, even though it lasted only four short months. Look how much I got to design! For my first two professional paper lines, I'm pretty proud of myself. I'm taking the thrill and the skill I acquired while IT FACTOR and LOVE NOTES was breathed to life on to the next thing...because passion don't stop.
I adore this little industry of paper-craft and I still have a burning desire to contribute.
In the meantime, I shall be celebrating these two little lines of mine for quite a while. Hee hee! Yippee! ...and below is my former boss, Tavnir Carey, showing you the other paper lines in this launch, along with some of the embellishments that come with each collection.
(HINT HINT: I was the idea behind the Alpha-Block stickers and the Acryllic Shape embellishments.)
;)
Craft on!
