Yesterday, June 11th, was Alejandro's 'FOUND' Day: the day I found him, huddled in a black kitten ball of near-death, against that stone wall in my backyard.
When I approached him, back in 2010, he didn't run and he didn't cower. He had no fight in him. Hungry for what I assume was a couple of days, he probably would've died had I not scooped him up.
He fell asleep in the cat bowl, slept most of the rest of the day after that, and had his first vet visit. By the early evening, he had a name inspired by the Lady Gaga song that was playing and was popular that June.
We fell asleep together in my room, Tomas, Alejandro, and I, and woke up to another surprise the next day.
ENTER: his sister...
The very next day, June 12th, excited to have a new kitten under my roof, I woke up in early morning time, made breakfast, was about to eat it outside when...{gasp!}...I spotted another baby?!?!
She was much more lively than her brother, going back and forth under the fence into and out of my backyard. If I were to catch her, I'd have to been much more cunning. That's when I got the kitchen stool, and my mom handed me a plate of yummy food for her, and while standing on the stool, I placed the food down on the ground.
Out peeked her little head, slowly she stepped her little feet to the food bowl and nom nom nom nom...all I heard was the slurping of wet cat food. Quietly, I crouched down and SNATCH! kitten neck fat was all up in between my fingers and baby girl was mine.
That weekend of Friday, June 11th, 2013 to Sunday, June 13th, 2010 was one of the best and most exciting weekends of my whole entire life.
This is what it was made up of:
Thinking about that weekend will forever burst my heart into a million tears of happiness.
We saved two kitty-lives those days, and ever since - they've been saving mine.
Love you, my two baby boops--
forever and to the moon.
