PL 2013 |week 18|

This is my |week 18|, ya'll.  

It is made up of a two page spread, with a 6x12 insert in the middle, my brochure-like April 'Day in the Life' and a scrapbook layout of Jimmy on one side and my end-of-April currentlies on the other.

Most of the beginning is all from our dad-and-daughters trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

I don't remember many April showers...just April coldness. :/

That Bonsai Museum really hit me. The whole entire day trip made me think of him, but the bonsai museum...[deep sigh].

I was waiting for the right time to use this Studio Calico insert from the March PL kit.  
This spread was it.

After the Brooklyn Botantic Garden photos, I inserted the brochure, and behind it is my 'Day in the Life'.

Front is the main photo and recordings...

After my 'Day in the Life' came the Jimmy Fallon layout.

My 'Week in Review' was done again like the W-in-R in |week 15| -- I took a 12:4 portion of one of my reent photos and floated the 'week in review' over that.  Then, I pulled colors with some colors of the photos around it.

an April Friday night w/ the girls

My two friends, Elisa and Nat (seen here in this karaoke post) and I spent our second Friday in a row together last night to celebrate the end of the damned New York State testing baloney.  (All three of us are teachers.) We clanked wine glasses, and chanted "two more months"!

We talked about everything you see above, and that hummus was delicious.  I found out we've all been having 'a week' and for each of us, last night was needed.

I found out over dinner last night that a few months ago my boyfriend called my friend Elisa and talked to her for 3+ hours about me. ? ?  It kind of ticked me off because a lot of the things he said to her, I wish he had told me.  Things I needed to hear from him, she knew, but I didn't.  ? ?
I also found out a misunderstanding we had back in November 2012...NOVEMBER!...could have been avoided or mended if he had told me what he planned.  He never did that day, back in November.  I found out from my friend yesterday...ummm...5 MONTHS LATER...that he had planned something for us that never happened because of the miscommunication and misunderstanding that happened on that November night.  ? ? I don't know.  

Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever. I cried, but only after Elisa cried. Nat disclosed that she hasn't 'thought' so much in her life.  Elisa and I welcomed her to 'the club' so to speak: the Over-Analyzers Not-So-Anonymous.

Our night winded down back at Elisa's place, and right before we left, us three were cozy under blankets on Elisa's couches.

I'm so grateful for these girls.

Over dinner, that's one big thing we talked about:
learning to be more in the moment,
and grateful for the good in everyday.

I'm grateful I have only a mild hangover this morning. ;)

what a week

What a week!  Really, the past two weeks...

Between my crazy sentimental heart breaking into a million pieces, coming home last Monday to bombings in Boston, the stress of the New York Statewide Tests this and last week, weird sleep patterns, dreaming about him, my principal pressuring me about next year even though I know I'm not coming back, the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy (not me) really close to home, one of my students calling my other student's late dad a fat ass, a teacher in my school's husband had a stroke...I know we must all be trying to keep calm and...oh, what's that saying?  

Instead we're all a bit sad, stressed, and freaking out.  I know I am.

My upcoming weekend should help me a bit.  Tonight I'm with my girls Elisa & Natalie again like last week. Tomorrow: it's back to sew class and I finally get to hop on the sewing machine.
Sunday: a morning trip with dad & sis to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to see the spring blossoms should be Awesome McAwesome. Plants have been healing for me this year.

I try to count my blessings everyday...and if nothing else, I'm going to do what I can to point my mood in the same direction I pointed my iPhone for these photos: UP.
I'm hoping the same for you.

Happy Easter, everybody!

We dressed the boops in their yellow Easter best.

We put some plastic eggs on the floor.

I'm spending it home with my cousins, Claudia & Michael, my sister, mom, aunt, & the boops.

Nothing major.
Very low key. 

We're eating mountains of perogies, and lasagna for dinner.

Maybe a nap in between.

Tonight: The Walking Dead, Season III Finale.
I'M SO EXCITED.

I feel most myself when I'm drenched in polka dots.

Yesterday, as mentioned in this list, my cousin Sabrina
had her Sweet 16 party and I - indeed - wore that little polka dot number.

I danced and spun around in it all night.

It felt/feels incredible to spend a day focused on yourself.
I got my hair blown out in the morning,
my first mani/pedi of the year
make-upped by sister,
drenched in polka dots,
and
fed, hugged, and loved yesterday. 

Made me smile.

So far, Spring Break has been awesome. 

 

first official photography gig (sorta) // EXCITED

One of my best buds, Elisa (you might know her from here) called me up the other day and said,

"My sister-in-law wanted to book you June 2nd to take photos at Julia's christening, and maybe you could meet with her and talk about your ideas, and she could tell you what she wants..."

Julia is Elisa's new one-month old neice.  She is the sweetest little ravioli and the family is, no doubt, SMITTEN.

Enter ME!  The 'booked' photographer, and I'm so excited!

...and FYI: I get weird when I'm excited about something.

When I was little and the fair at my elementary school was almost up, and opened, I used to sit (for the whole week before) drawing pictures of the fair and myself having fun.
(I guess that was my early ages of blogging.)

Then, these past few years, sitting in a crappy college class or something like that, I'd sketch my outfit possibilities for an upcoming event I was excited about.

...with the little Photoshop know-how I do have (and you know I'm always playing)...THIS IS HOW MY EXCITEMENT MANIFESTS ITSELF:

I'm am way excited for June and this gig.  I even told Elisa that I'm not going to really talk or mingle with anybody because I want to be MEGA PROFESH!  
...and the above outfit & accessories is what's going to loop in my brain for the next 2+ months, like a stylish little Vine video of excitement!

Please tell me you also do this.  
Or even better, tell me something weirder you do when waiting for some awesome time!  
Sing in the mirror?
Fashion show around your house a day or two before?
Change the lyrics to a familar tune to fit the occassion your waiting for?

Dang.
I've done all those too.

Valentine's week and so many chances to use my heart and arrow embellishments.

I "journalled" with my typewriter and then accented each 'tag' I made with a heart-shaped paperclip. CAH-YOOT!

right side:

That '14' insert was cut from a Valentine's card set I found in Michael's clearance aisle.

That's it.

That last one was particularly yummy, and how I ended my |week 7| on Saturday night.

I was waiting for that martini all week long. ;)

my new favorite (cat) sweater

I found in EXISTENCE this sweater that IS my little boy cat, Alejandro, on a sweater.  
How could I NOT buy it.  Seriously.  HOW?!?!

...and the back?!  ...with the cute kitty pads?!  ...probably my favorite part. 

I wore it yesterday to ambitiously take a shopping trip with my sis until I
put my coat on and said, "This ain't happenin'."

I caught a bug, and have been sneezing/blowing snots and napping all of yesterday.

Besides these quick photos taken in my backyard, a McDonald's run, and The Walking Dead,
yesterday was a total wash.

Felt needed.

My sister had been asking me to go with her dressed in a cute fall outfit to our neighborhood park for weeks now.  The other day, we went.

It's pretty cool to have a sister (who I call 'my bitt'), and although I'm 4 years older, we are the best of friends.   We always have been close and two nuts off the same family tree, but every year we grow more into our adult selves, our bond becomes stronger and more apparent.  

It's awesome.

sick day

On Tuesday, I took a sick day off of work.  I should've yesterday and probably today too, to really get back to health, but I'll just down some more Alka-Setlzer and go in.

This outfit is what I wore to ambitiously drop off STAMP ORDERS at the Post Office and go to CVS for medicine.  Each time I got out of the car, I thought I was going to faint.

Just two more days 'til the weekend...where I can really rest up.

But who am I kidding?
There's going to be TONS of teacher-work (as usual)
& a PL Life week calling my name,
& a December Daily album to get started on.
