That MAKE SOME THING TODAY card^^ is my favorite thing about the SC PL kit.  It features my one little word for this year, and I predict it being one of those inserts that I pass from spread to spread. You'll see it popping up in weeks' pages to come. :P 

...and what about that adorable doodled iPhone insert?! If those two above 3-by-4s don't make you want to jump on the StudioCalico Project Life waiting list, then I don't know what would. Tee hee hee.

#photoADayAug compilation

This was my eighth month in a row
doing FatMumSlim's photo-a-day challenge.

On the 1st of every month, I come up with a 'look' that the month with have,
and I goal to fulfill each day's prompt while sticking to the 'look'.

August's 'look' was polaroid-themed (because 'Roid Week was in town) but was
really taken with Hipstamatic, framed with PictureShow, and given text with Phonto.

Here it was:

Day 1 - outside with Alejandro
Day 2 - this '1' was in my craftroom waiting to be decorated for THiS
Day 3 - those coins are doodled on my cute carry-'round purse
Day 4 - that seat in my craftroom is called my 'thinking chair' 

Day 5 - the logo to my STAMP SHOP is pretty sweet :*)
Day 6 - the day my Summer mood changed
Day 7 - was watching Paranormal Activity 3 at 8'clock that night
Day 8 - electric blue aviators 

Day 9 - messy dry-erase board needed to be redone ...did it!
Day 10 -  this Aerobie Pro frisbee ring is super fun
Day 11 - this purple? Nah...went teal
Day 12 - spoon from Jamba Juice after a Central Park bike ride 

Day 13 - a simple duck tape DIY
Day 14 - stamped a few arrows and was done with it
Day 15 - readying my planner for another school year
Day 16 - ate food for dinner with Tomas & Claudia...can you guess which type? 

Day 17 - some of the faces celebrating a birthday at dinner that night
Day 18 - up at the ceiling inside
Day 19 - stuffing my pie-hole with homemade pizza
Day 20 - THAT DAY 

 

Day 21 - I still feel cool when I walk into the P.O. with a handful of STAMP orders
Day 22 - home with this boop girl and her brother all day
Day 23 - my new favorite pair o'sunnies discovered in a junk drawer
Day 24 - on my path...physically and metaphorically 

Day 25 - fresh Fairway peach
Day 26 - dreaming that it was June
Day 27 - "...tap the bottle, and..."
Day 28 - got the clock set up in my classroom for successful time-telling 

Day 29 - down at the boops (took this same picture for Day 21 back in May, but it was her that looked up)
Day 30 - this card is my favorite to give to fellow-teachers for their birthday (I have multiple copies)

Day 31 can be found in my IG feed. ;)

Five Friday Favs :: PHOTOGRAPHY-FUN

I'm back with a new set of Five Friday Favs!  Every Friday I'm going to feature five certain things that are my favorite.

Last week, I posted about my five favorite fonts, and this time I'm coming to you with five of my current favorite fun stuff from the photography front!

The olloclip is a fun little corner slide-on piece for the iPhone. It comes with three different lenses: a fisheye lens, a wide-angle lens, and a macro lens.  It works only on an iPhone 4 or 4S, and only with the back-facing camera. This video explains about it in depth.

I'm in love with the fish-eye lens, and my #photoadaySept will probably be all about it. hint*hint The wide angle lens is eh, alright, but the MACRO lens impressed the sh** outta me!  Like whoa!

 

It's a lot of fun to use.

I'm ALL ABOUT anything to do with cats and kitty boops -- I mean you must already know that -- but this app allows for me to post images like those above^^ and tag them on instagram with the hash #MEOWFIToftheday. I mean, c'mon.  C'mon!  I die. Like, literally -- heart stops.

Purrrr Purrrr Purrr ... happy place.

FotoRus is also an iPhone app that, as you can see above, allows you to insert a picture within a staged scene.  You can play around with the foreground and background too, adding filters or different images.

It's a lot of fun, and makes for interesting portrayals.  That bubble image was me on an August Monday afternoon paper-crafting outside in my bathing suit thinking to myself 'I don't want my Summer bubble to burst'.  FotoRus helped me convey that notion.

Oh jeez. Summer's almost done.

I must admit, I wasn't the best 'Roid Week participant this year.  I thought I was going to be, but then as the week went by, I just wasn't as on top of it as I was with other things.  However, I did take a few polaroids, and nothing beats having them in your hands, all perfect in their imperfection.

Ah, bokeh.  It's like little light-sequins for photos.  ...and who couldn't use some o'that?!

There are a number of iPhone apps that allow you to put bokeh specks in your photo.  What's special about Bokehful is that it allows for customizable bokeh specks. You can 'place' your bokeh, you can choose the shape and color, and you can add a lot or a little.  Also, you can undo if you made incorrect placement.

I say...

...everything is better with bokeh.

...no one on da cunner be SWAPPiN' LIKE US, SWAPPiN' LIKE US...

Folks, you might have come across the cute logos above floating around my two >> right sidebars recently without an understanding of why they're there or what they mean.  This post is to explain.

In these past two weeks of August (August 15th already! Holy Buh-Jeez!!) that we've had, through random blog-reading, calculated internet searching, and sporadic clicking, I found out about these two SWAPS.

the #PHOTOSWAP:

In the first swap, the #photoswap, Rhianne instructs us to either takes a roll of film or buy a disposable camera (because it has to be something that you develop) and take photos just for their swap partner.  Then we are supposed to send the cameras/films to each other and develop the other persons photos.

Disposable cameras.  Remember those?
I decided to purchased this water-proof Kodak gem above to take a lot of outdoor Summer shots, and some 'in the pool/under the water'  moments.

When I receive my photoswapper's camera/film, I'm supposed to develop it and blog about the pictures here. Stay tuned for that.

the #MUGSWAP:

This swap...I'm super excited about.

It's like secret-santa MEETS pen pals, and what we're gifting is a MUG!  I got the name, address, and IG name of a lady who signed up to #mugswap, and by viewing her IG feed, and getting to know some more about her, I went on the hunt last week for the perfect mug.  I FOUND IT, ya'll, and mailed it out Monday...and when I find out that she has received it, I'll post the final-product pics and how I customized it.  It was a super-fun project. I can't wait to share.

These two swap-projects + a sweet fun time with 'Roid Week has been keeping my hands FULL of cameras galore, and my mind ingnited with craftivity!!

Lord knows I need it.

(Pola)roid Week 2012 Kicks Off Today!

Go in your attic, your Grandpa's garage, your bottom bedroom drawer with the broken hinge, and whip out your instant cameras!  It's 'ROID WEEK!

I participated last year and it was a lot of fun.  I toted my polaroid camera around with me for a whole Monday through Friday.  Yes, that's the 'week' of 'roid week.  RULES CAN BE READ HERE.

In a nutshell, you snap 'roids, you pick your best two to upload to the flickr group everyday of 'Roid Week, and by Friday evening you should have uploaded MAX of 10 polaroid pictures.

I believe this enters you in some kind of contest, but I'm not sure.  It's just a great way to appreciate photography and go back to the roots of what we know and love today as instagram.
Speaking of IG, my #PhotoADayAug is coming along nicely and is 'polaroid-themed' in honor of 'roid week this month.  Check it out.
