I spent time at the Belmont Race Track on Saturday with a group of my high school friends, and their significant others, and their friends.
September Saturdays this year have been known for me not wanting to go do anything, and then agreeing last minute to do something new, and having it end up being a grand ol' time. The 5K Mud Run was the same thing.
Here're shots from the day:
I didn't win any money. I picked the horses Al Dente and Ampersand, but they came in, like, 4th or 5th. The highlights included, but were not at all limited to: spending some quality time with those ladies, above, realizing my friend Elisa is EXACTLY like Anthony Marantino from Sex and the City, laughing over a large grandma pie at 9:30 at night, and teacher-venting (all those girls work in education, too) to the tenth degree.
I missed my boyfriend. He wasn't with me all day long. I haven't seen him in a while. I called him after my day at the races was done, and it felt good to hear his voice, and then...I didn't know what else to say, so I just said goodnight. Lonely crept in, and it's been hanging out with me ever since.
Have a speedy workday, teachers of NYC.
Tomorrow is Yom Kippur and we have off.
THANK HEAVENS.
